Allan Bortel retired in 1999 and started teaching computers at the Belvedere-Tiburon Library and The Redwoods Retirement Residence (both teaching and troubleshooting the technology challenges of residents).
He joined the Marin County Commission on Aging in 2002 and chairs the Housing and Transportation Committee. He is a member of the California Senior Legislature (Senate) and thus sits on the MCCOA.
Since 2005 he has been a member of the Citizens’ Oversight Committee on Transportation Measures A and B and its chair since 2012. Allan is on the Board of Marin Villages and co-chair of its Tiburon Peninsula Village.
